Phillip H. Choo, MD

Dr. Phillip H. Choo received his undergraduate degree from Columbia College and his medical degree from Columbia University in 1992. Dr. Choo graduated in the top 10% of his medical school class, and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.

Dr. Choo was an intern at the St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City, and was a resident in ophthalmology at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Choo then finished a two-year fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center.

From 1998 to 2006, Dr. Choo was the Director of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California Davis Medical Center. While at the University of California, Dr. Choo authored numerous textbook chapters, journal publications, and abstracts in oculoplastic surgery. He has also lectured nationally and internationally, taught at national courses, and trained many medical students and ophthalmology residents.

In 2006, Dr. Choo joined the Pittsburgh Oculoplastic Associates, and sees patients at the Greensburg, Monroeville, and Shadyside offices.

Dr. Choo is board certified in Ophthalmology, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Pittsburgh Ophthalmology Society. Dr. Choo has been named one of the Best Doctors in America since 2003, and has also been named a Best Doctor by Pittsburgh Magazine. Dr. Choo lives with his wife, two children, and two Shih Tzu in Fox Chapel.
